E-lit Games (Playing With Words)

with Edith Viau

Interested in generative poetry and electronic literature? Through collaborative coding projects, we will learn how to build games based on the written word, in the browser. These interactive games will have something in common: they all try to help with the writer's block! Bring your imaginary worlds and your creativity to this workshop as we will code interactive games where writing is the main action.

Time Schedule

We use JavaScript in the workshop. If you are new to JS, please complete this tutorial ahead of time: MDN Getting Started With The Web: JavaScript Basics.

Familiarity with HTML/CSS will be also helpful. Check out Build an Under Construction Mini Site from Zines by Jackie, if you're familiar with everything presented they're you will be in good shape (and probably smiling from retro cuteness overload). Getting Started With The Web is a more complete guide from MDN. If you're short on time just the HTML Basics are a handy reference.
